Welcome! Private enterprise “Marine Design Service” (MDS) - parent company of MDEM, Nikolaev, Ukraine, was founded in December 2000 with the purpose to provide shipbuilding advisory/supervisory service during ship construction period to support customers’ site-teams abroad. However in the end of 2005 due to increasing demand for engineering service among European shipyards and lacking capacity design agencies MDS has started investments in home-based design facilities. In such a way export of engineering services for shipbuilding industry, i.e. 3-Dimensional modeling in specialized CAD/CAM system Nupas-Cadmatic and development of digital technical/production documentation became the main activity. Thus “Marine Design Engineering Mykolayiv” (MDEM) LLC was established to provide detailed engineering services. After completion of the first project MDEM has started long-term cooperation with the DAMEN Shipyards Group, which became its major client. The market MDEM currently operates in is West Europe; the office and engineering facilities are located in Nikolaev and work is predominantly being performed in Ukraine. Nowadays MDEM is a dynamically growing design agency consisting of 60 permanently employed naval architects and mechanical engineers run by enthusiastic management team.
